We watched it two days ago. What do I have to say? WOW. I mean, knowing what a staunch anti-Dreamworks person I am (they made our family waste money on the Monsters vs. Aliens 3D tickets!), I'm really saying something when I say that I LOVED HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON.
It's everything anyone would want in a dragon-human movie, and more. It's not just adventure. Yeah, maybe it's the typical son-trying-to-please-father plot. And maybe it's on the cliched (as mentioned) a-boy-and-his-dragon subject. But when you combine the two, you get something really, really, really awesome.
Now for more specifics on the storyline. Since it's Dreamworks, I wasn't surprised to find out that it was a storybook adaptation. I can't expect Dreamworks to come up with a storyline like this. But original or not, it went with the animation SO WELL. For once, this company created something really beautiful, and it was perfect. The story absolutely deserved beauty, and the animators gave it.
So the story went well with the animation. But why would I want you to watch this movie, and not another animated fantasy? Because even if the rest was the usual fantasy type, the last ten minutes was the most wonderful twist on the genre of the children's movie that I've ever seen (other than the wholes of Ratatouille, Wall-e and Up, of course). So even if you can't stand fantasy or animation or both, just watch it for the ending. THE ENDING.
Oh, did I also tell you that I adore people with names adapted from words? Hiccup is an absolutely wonderful name for the main character. :D
So watch How to Train Your Dragon! It's totally worth your money. And get it in 3D too. We chose not to watch it in 3D, and I'm quite sure we missed a lot when it came to the flight scenes.
And the usual footnote. OTDOTS is now 353 pages long, with 140,445 words.

I just want to make absolutely clear that I'm supporting Up's score for the Best Score Oscar. It's a long shot to win the Best Picture (it's so awesome for it to have been nominated), and (though I really want it to win) I'm starting to have doubts about the Best Animated Feature. So UP HAS TO WIN BEST SCORE. It's the most poetic soundtrack I've heard in a long, long time.
Haha. I just began this "one poem a day" thingy. It's going very nicely. I enjoy it very much. A lot of weird stuff has managed to squeeze its way out of my creative writing anus (LOL).
Okay. Forget that metaphor.
Rewriting Song of the Sea now--half the storyline has changed. The ending has transformed into something completely different. No more sudden mind-changing. Hope they like the new version better--because it has a second part.

I really think this year was long, longer than most. So much happened, so much changed. I'll have to specially mention that I got to know my FanFiction friends a lot better, as the most significant change. Some of you, I actually identify with, and helped me through a lot. I'm referring to you, Ben and Wen Xuan! Hi :D if you ever read this!
And I met the Artemis Fowl series this year, of course. Now I have to wait for book 5 and 6. AND 7!!! I finished the Percy Jackson series, which blew me up. WHOOO!! And I FINALLY GOT WALL-E ON VCD! No DVD, but it cost RM40 less.
We got UP too. (HAHAHAHA! Got up after falling down?) And I'm too scared to watch, because I don't want to cry again.
Well, it was a great, great year. My writing improved beyond my projections (compare my two furthest fanfics: A Change I Never Wanted vs. Tears of a Murderess. Or try Iron Shadows/Paper Wings, which got more praise...) And I scored impossibly higher than last year overall in school!
Okay, so that's it for this year.
I think I'll do it a minute before. YEAH. Okay, maybe more than a minute. It's 11.38pm now. Close enough. The countdown is about to start.

I couldn't help but say this.
Location: My laptop, in front of the PC (so I can plug the internet wire in)
Mood: Tired but happy
Just did: Typed MORE of Epic Thing
...which is now 253 pages long. And chapter 7 is almost done! I'm so glad it's almost there. And I'm admittedly liking this chapter a lot. I think it could be the best I've ever written.
It'll be done in about 1-2 weeks' time. I really hope I can live up to expectations.
