La Procesion del Rocio

Location: New laptop at home

Just did: Facebooked

Yes, have I ever told anyone at all about the greatness of this piece of music?

La Procesion del Rocio--the true meaning of joy. I don't know if words can actually bring out everything I felt while listening, right from the initial opening chord. Ahhhh! Well, the 25 cents I spent on it was totally worth it. I should have paid ten dollars for it.

Okay, I just felt the urge to do this--talk about the awesomeness of the best orchestral piece I have ever heard. I mean it! It's good enough to warrant a random post at the weirdest, most unrelated time :D

Hi, you are reading!

Just did: changed the desktop background :D

Hm, you know what? Only weird people read my blog. Yes, if you are reading this, it means that you are weird.

Chances are, you are the kind who obsesses over TV shows, games or book series, probably dozens. You probably tend to appreciate weird things that no one else even gets. Could be puns, melodic motifs in movie background music, elegance of formulae. Your MP3 player is stuffed up with a weirdly varied selection, and somehow you can remember exactly how you came across each and every of the three hundred songs there. You do weird things when you are bored, like write mathematical calculations or draw eyes on your arms. You also take pride in knowing and thinking certain things--"I tend to appreciate apocalyptic stories." "I think Beethoven got that chord there wrong." "Why is November not Nonember?"

Yes, that's you, isn't it? Come on, admit it. You are a weird person. That's why you just wasted a minute of your time reading that.

AWESOME

I finally found it OH YESSS

This is like the (second) most awesome orchestral piece in the universe. It's wild, vivid, beautiful, and best of all, NEVER boring. NEVER!! And it's relatively short!

Enjoy, for those who bothered to listen and watch :D

I'm like SO in love with this piece! But you've gotta hear the really high-quality recordings to really appreciate how GREAT this is...

I wish I had music, but all I have are words

My entry to RGS's Inkspiration. I hope they like it...

How I long to paint the world as they do!
Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Rachmaninov
How can it be that entire worlds unravel in my eyes
At the single brush of the flute’s soliloquy on my ear
Or the glorious fanfare of the orchestra’s tutti
Or the crystal ringing echo on the cold dark keys?
How can shifting regular wavelengths of varying amplitude
Recreate the shimmering reflections in Monet’s Water Lilies
Or the rattling rifles of the Russian Revolution
Or the delicate lace dance of the swans in Swan Lake
Or the whisper of pure liquid moonlight streaming through the windows?

It will never be within my grasp, this magic they work
Twelve notes divided by frequency spaces the twelfth root of two
In measures of three, four, seven, eight simple, compound, irregular
Rearranged into a one-page etude or a thirty-minute symphony
A soli, a diminished seventh in the upper registers
Passionate, fantastical, sparkling, blazing
Breaking the bounds of imagination—
How I wish I could shape sound into beauty, as they did!

I wish I had music,
But all I have are words.
And words limit me to only that much
A paradigm on paper made in ink
A million-strong divine vocabulary
Only showing, telling, implying by nuances—

Nothing, next to the mind-blowing dimensions
That the greatest composers wove
Upon the strings and reeds and keys
And burnt into the hearts of the world
With
Chains of beamed black circles
On five evenly-spaced lines

An in-between

Location: Old laptop
Mood: Um
Just did: proofread Sands of Time

Yup, that's my next story. And I think it has potential to be my best yet. Just wait for it, those of you who actually read.

Of the Dragon, of the Stars is on to its 140th page!!! I don't know how far it has gone since I last posted about it, but all I know is that it has grown a great deal. 140 pages! I never thought that it'd get that far. YAY

Alright, I was only posting for the sake of posting. Felt like it.

SIGH my sisters are now listening to this piece of BLAH called Poker Face. I must say that the video is cool (freakily cool), but the song is...ah. Like all pop songs. Catchy and weird and too techno for my liking.

Impressionist and early twentieth century is still my cup of tea. And the really good J-pop songs that make good use of the orchestra.

Okay, like I said. I was posting because this blog looks dead. So there. Wait for the next one. BYE!

Quote of the week: "P-p-p-f*** her face"~Poker Face lyrics, with a terrible mishear on the maker's part
